ABOUT THE YARD
Casey Blake, Owner


Casey Blake, the owner of The Yard, was a four-sport standout at Indianola High School where he played baseball, football, basketball and participated in track.  He was named one of the top ten high school athletes in the history of Iowa.

Casey went on to play professional baseball player.  He played in Major League Baseball for the Toronto Blue Jays, Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians and
Los Angeles Dodgers.

Peteblake

Pete Blake

Pete Blake was an Elite All-State selection in 1996 and 1997. He is the all-time leader in home-runs, ERA and strikeouts at Indianola High School.
After high school Pete was drafted by the Minnesota Twins where he spent 5 years in the minor leagues.
After his playing career, Pete has been the manager of The Yard and has been giving hitting and pitching lessons since 2008.
Benblake

Ben Blake

Ben Blake was an Elite All-State selection in 1988. He is the all-time leader in batting average at Indianola High School.
After high school Ben played 4 years between Oral Roberts, Westark JC, Texas A&M and Simpson.
He was drafted by the Cleveland Indians.
After his playing career Ben came back to Indianola where he was an assistant coach at Simpson College and eventually took over as head coach.

Brendan Sher

Brendan was a 2-time First Team All-State player for Indianola. His senior year he was the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Player of the Year.
Brendan took his talents to The University of Iowa where he was a 4-year starter for the Hawks. A versatile player, Brendan played 3rd base, 2nd base and shortstop in his time in Iowa City.
